[Group 5 - EXTREME TEAM] Melaka Cat Expo 2015 & UTeM Student Life

Introduction

We are come from Group 5 with the name of “EXTREME TEAM” which means that not difficulties can defeat us. In the other words, we able to complete any task have given. Our group is consists of 5 members that are:

This assignment is required two video and website as final report. The two video created by our group are Melaka Cat Expo 2015 and UTeM Student Life. The following table is shown that the responsible task given for each members.

Objective

The purposes of this assignment are:

i.        Students are able to create video originally and manage the website.

ii.       Students are able to improve their creativity and intelligent on video making and editing.

iii.    Students are able to deliver information attractively by using multimedia technology  nowadays.

iv.     Students are able to understand the concepts and principle of multimedia element and design issues.

Literature Review

Melaka Cat Expo 2015

        This event is held annually and Melaka Cat Expo is one of biggest event for enthusiastic cat lovers. Cat owners can’t wait to gather with other cat lovers to exchange and share their love towards cats. Cuteness overflowed in A’Famosa Resort as the resort is one of the sponsor for the event by providing venue for this remarkable event. Besides A’Famosa Resort, Malacca State Government and PetAreCute Animal Centre also contributed to this event and sponsored Cat Expo 2015.

        Lots of booth which sell pets, pets care, pet’s accessories were set up there. Visitors also had chances to take photos with rare pets. Cat Expo is a paradise for all cat lovers out there. One of the main event throughout Cat Expo was Cat Competition since cat owners can compete their beloved cats with other owners to win the ultimate title in the competition. The competition had several categories which reward the winners with attractive prizes. We had a chance to visit this event and did a full coverage on this event. STAY TUNE!!!

UTeM Student Life

        Student’s life in UTeM is short but memorable. Knowing such memories may be gone after graduation, we created a video to portrait the life of an UTeM student. At the same time, we also introduced to the world our beloved university and how future engineers are nurtured here. We showed balanced lifestyle lead by fellow UTeM’s Students. May UTeM be top notch university in the future.

Executive Summary

       The two video making by our group is using the element of multimedia such as text, image, graphic, animation and video. The used of text is to describe the graphic and what is the actor saying to the audience. The image captured, graphic, animation and video captured act as materials to us to create the video and publish and showing to the audience. The background music on the video is making the video more attractive and vitality.

Melaka Cat Expo 2015

        The ‘Melaka Cat Competition 2015’ had been held on 28^th of March (Saturday) and 29^th of March (Sunday) in A Famosa Resort, Melaka. This event is in conjunction with Melaka Pet Expo 2015 by PetsAreCute Animal Centre. The Malaka Pet Expo is the largest pet expo in Melaka. The organizer of this event is providing the visitors free entry fee. Besides cat competition, there are also including other activities such as animal exhibitions and shows, cat photography sessions, kid’s colouring contest, close interaction with animals and etc.

           The purpose for this video making by our group is promoting the circumstance and the feeling of this event to people. The cat participant of this competition needed to have a cat healthy check before approve to participate. The organizer is preparing a well caring for these cat participants with good nutrition food and huge cage to stay. The other things besides of cat competition is there also have sold many species of animal such as hamsters, lizard, rabbit, snake and animal show.

UTeM Student Life

        Another normal day of UTeM students. Our group members Fakhrul and Asyraf will show us their life as students of UTeM. Our laboratory, cafe, mosque and library also introduced to the audience. It appears that UTeM has good scenery as well. By creating this video, viewers able to grasp the lifestyle UTeM’s students lead here.

Project Design Issues

1)    Content design

      Scripting: Simple language is used when creating both video since our target audience are mostly pets lovers and students. A picture worth a thousand words. Therefore, in our videos, we made sure that our messages are conveyed to our audience effectively at the same time keep our videos interesting.

    Graphics: Video about Cat Expo used a lot of pictures captured throughout the event required editing of the pictures before putting them together in the video. Second video required recording and we altered the frames of the video recorded. Most words used in our videos are in white colour since our background in assorted colours.

      Animation: We pop words/ description in/ out of the screen to draw attention of the audience and combine pictures and video together which required quite a bit of editing.

Music: The music used in cat expo is funky music while music used in second video is more cheerful. Music can set up the mood of the audience when watching the video since good background music can draw their attention. Second video used narration from our group member to introduce life of UTeM students.

2)    Technical Design

     Some editing part of the video is done using Power Director. The video have high resolution which is 1280X1024 which take up lots of memory and disk space. The quality of the video will vary based on the internet speed via YouTube.  

3)    Visual Design

       Traditional theme is used in both videos since this kind of theme can be accepted by most of the viewers. The arrangement of the information is smooth in term of its delivery path, not jumpy words are used in the description of the videos.

Conclusion

            After completing this video, students are able to create video originally and manage the website. Throughout the process of video making, students are improving their creativity. With the use multimedia technology such as Ipad, students can edit and arrange the video with the application of IMovie and YouTube and Blogger is able to publish video and description of our video. Besides that, students deeply understand the use of multimedia element and the design issues.
